Americans are becoming more and more interested in changing their habits to reduce their impact on the environment. This is part of why we’ve seen such a huge spike in electric and alternative fuel auto development, like the LEAF, Nissan’s all-electric car. Here are some ways to lower your carbon footprint and help the environment.
One great way to reduce your impact is to eat less meat. Livestock produces far more waste and harmful gases than crops, and farm animals consume much more than they produce, so lowering your consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy is a great way to preserve the earth.
You can also use more environmentally friendly household products like LED lightbulbs and energy efficient appliances, as well as using less water, using hot instead of cold water, and not running the air conditioning or heat when it’s not necessary. And buy things used as often as possible!
Of course, one of the best ways to make less of an impact on the environment is by driving vehicles with low or no emissions. Electric cars, hybrids, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and other non-gas options like the Nissan LEAF put fewer ozone-unfriendly gases into the atmosphere, and as electric vehicles become more popular, it will have an exponential effect on the environment.
