The Nissan LEAF Is Just Waving At You

The Nissan LEAF is paving the way for many electric cars in the US, and it may be getting a new supercharging system. While Nissan electric vehicle technology is about as innovative as it gets, one drawback for many electric car owners is the time it takes to charge electric vehicles—until now, it seems.

Quick Battery Charging System

According to Clean Technica, Nissan may be getting a new electric ChargePoint system developed by EVgo. Working with several other automakers to form a coalition of automakers, Nissan announced in January that it was working with Tesla and other groups to create a truly quick battery-charging system.

120kW Of Electricity

For many, the issue isn’t actually vehicles like the Nissan LEAF. Instead, many charging stations are not equipped to handle “fast charging,” or what is frequently referred to as “Level 3” charging. While many stations and public ports have Level 2 charging, few places let you get more than 50kw at a time. However, Nissan, working with Tesla, may be able to get as much as 120kW at a time across several places in the US.

Where To Find Charging Stations

In fact, several places in western Europe offer supercharging stations. Nissan announced in early August that it was working with a company named DBT to create 150kW charging stations, adding that it will hopefully have up to 2,100 stations in the US in the near future. Here at Santa Cruz Nissan in Santa Cruze, CA we can’t wait to see what happens over the next few years.
